Tish Streeten: Producer/Director/Editor was born and grew up in Oxford, England. She studied agricultural botany at the University of Wales and for the next ten years she worked throughout Europe and America as an organic farmer, gardener and herbalist. She began making films in 1982, studying with George Stoney at NYU. Juliette of the Herbs (1998), Tish’s first feature-length film, won an International Documentary Association nomination, was shown on PBS and is still a best-selling dvd. Tish also produced and edited Ecological Design: Inventing the Future, which was shown at Sundance; Sangoma: Traditional Healers in South Africa, a film for Canadian TV; and worked on Healing and the Mind with Bill Moyers. Tish is the mother of a 9 year old girl called Tulsi. She lives in Hopewell, New Jersey where she is a core member of Real Food for Thought, a group working to cultivate gardens and better food in the local public schools.
Prashanti de Jager: Co-Producer/On-Camera Guide. In 1990 Prashanti went to India for a few months to study Ayurveda, Yoga and the Vedic Sciences. He instantly found such incredible teachers that he stayed 7 years the first time and has lived in India about 10 years. While there he co-founded 'Organic India', now one of the largest organic herb companies in the world and winner of the 'Most Socially Responsible Company'award in the Natural Products industry. He has authored several books on Vedic and Ayurvedic topics, taught hundreds of classes around the world, and is on the board of 'Light on Ayurveda' Journal and the 'American Herbal Pharmacopoeia'. His latest book Turmeric, The Ayurvedic Spice of Life has just been released.
Ashish Maurya: Cinematographer/Associate Producer was cinematographer for the USA documentary Asha Goes to India, shot a 10 episode travel show about India for Israeli TV, and is now working on Under the Sun, a show on organic farming. Ashish was the Still Photographer for Mira Nair's film Monsoon Wedding and for the Dutch film On the Moon.
Sarah Plant: Composer. Sarah was Associate Music Director, arranger, and flutist for Ang Lee’s Oscar-nominated Eat Drink Man Woman, and has scored numerous independent features and TV documentaries. Her credits include A Dream in Doubt (PBS), Juliette of the Herbs (PBS), Racing Daylight (with Oscar nominated David Strathairn), Spotted Puppets (Canal+), A Daughter’s Rage (Court TV), Guillermo Gomez-Peña, (PBS), Brothers and Others: The Impact of 9/11 on Arabs in America (CBC, Hallmark, Swiss TV). Sarah has scored American Museum of Natural History biodiversity films, museum installations and a commission for Bill T. Jones Dance Company. She has received awards/grants from the NEA, NYSCA, and ASCAP. Her compositions have been performed at the Kennedy Center, BAM, Carnegie Recital Hall, and the Spoleto Festival.
